The Alphabet Village series is packed full of adventures using the ‘Letter of the Month’. In the first Alphabet Village tale, there is an emergency and Miss Apple has to call an ambulance to help her friend Apricot.

What to do in an emergency?

You can use this story to start a discussion with your child about what to do in a real-life emergency. You may wish to use role play to teach your child how to call an emergency number. Explain to your child that sometimes people need help and show them how to ring 000. For the purposes of the game, your child will pretend to call 000, the operator will ask a few questions and the child will answer the questions. You will need to make sure your child knows only to actually call 000 in a real-life emergency. You can also use this role play to teach their full name, home address and phone number.
